Venue Cranfield Christmas Fayre
On Friday 2nd December, we opened the doors of Mitchell Hall to staff and students of Cranfield University, as well as students from the local primary school, Cranfield Church of England Academy, to celebrate our first ever Christmas Fayre.
Over 25 stallholders turned out to showcase their wares, and guests were able to pick up gifts as well as enjoy delicious hot Christmas food & drink, play games and even pay a visit to Father Christmas in his grotto. It was a fantastic Christmassy day and the Vice Chancellor even popped by to say hello to all the stallholders.
The Cranfield Church of England Academy raised an incredible total of £1700 for the school and we received some lovely comments from the Cranfield University community on how well the event went. The date is set for next year – were looking forward to our next Christmas Fayre on 8th December 2017!
Christmas is coming!
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here at Venue Cranfield, all the teams are getting ready for one of the busiest and best times of the year. Decorations will shortly be going up, and we are putting the final touches to our Christmas Menus for our carvery lunches and party nights and enjoying the taste testing that goes with it!
We are really looking forward to hosting our first Christmas Fayre at Mitchell Hall ran in conjunction with the local school, Cranfield Academy. We have lots of local people selling some lovely gifts and we are also hoping we may get a visit from a special someone dressed in red for the children to meet.
Our Christmas Party Nights have again been really popular and there’s just a handful of spaces left on the 10th and 17th December, so don’t delay in getting in touch if you are looking for somewhere to celebrate with your friends or colleagues.

Cheque Presented to Willen Hospice after Ride for Willen Cycling Event
Venue Cranfield was delighted to present a cheque for £520 to Willen Hospice last week. Mitchell Hall, part of Venue Cranfield, was host to Ride for Willen, a cycling sportive organised by Willen Hospice at the end of August.
Over 200 cyclists took part in the sportive, with either a 20, 40 or 65-mile picturesque route around Cranfield and surrounding villages, raising over £5000. An off-road kids' challenge also took place, allowing the kids to join in too.
Once back to Mitchell Hall, a BBQ was enjoyed by all on the terrace and thanks to our sponsors Savona, Woburn Butchers, Eureka and Willam Yirrells Butchers, we were able to donate all money made from the BBQ to Willen Hospice, amounting to the sum of £520.
Jay Browne, Business Development Manager at Venue Cranfield said ‘It was fantastic to see so many cyclists and their families here at Mitchell Hall. We hope the BBQ was enjoyed by all and pleased it raised a further £520 for the Hospice and its invaluable work.”
Sarah Sweet-Rowley, Events Manager at Willen Hospice commented “Thanks so much to the team at Venue Cranfield for hosting a great event and for donating the BBQ proceeds. We’ve had great feedback from the cyclists and after such great success, our plans are now firmly in place to hold the event again next year.”
Ride for Willen Starts at Mitchell Hall
We are delighted to be the starting point for the upcoming Willen Hospice cycling event ‘Ride for Willen’ on the 29th August. The event is a brand new Cycling Sportive event for Willen; offering three routes for cyclists to take in the picturesque landscape around the outskirts of Milton Keynes. There’s a route for everyone with options of 20, 40 or 65 miles all starting here at Mitchell Hall, Venue Cranfield at 8.30am.
All routes are marshalled and signposted, with feed stations on all routes; plus all cyclists will be electronically chipped for timing.
Kids (ages 5-17) can also get involved with the ‘Cranfield Cycle Challenge’ around the University campus.
After the cycling, everyone is welcome back to Mitchell Hall, where there will be a family barbeque and refreshments.
Entry fees, which include race chip, medal and bib are £29 for adults; £19 for adults already registered to take part in the Extra Mile Challenge; and £14 for kids. Cyclists are also being asked to raise individual sponsorship as well, to make as much as possible for Willen Hospice and the valuable work it does.
Jay Browne from Venue Cranfield says ‘It’s great that we can help support Willen and we look forward to cheering on all the cyclists here at Mitchell Hall.’

CMDC part of Venue Cranfield attends The Meetings Show 2016
Cranfield Management Development Centre (CMDC) attended The Meetings Show exhibition that took place at London Olympia from 14th- 16th June. CMDC was one of five stand partners that collectively exhibited as part of the newly rebranded Venues of Excellence group (previously Conference Centres of Excellence).
The first day of the exhibition saw the launch of Venues of Excellence (VE); with The Meetings Show providing a great platform to launch the rebrand, helping to attract interest towards the stand and promote the profile of Venues of Excellence.
To the accompaniment of champagne and canapés, Stuart Websdale, Chairman of Venues of Excellence, gave a short speech to introduce the new brand to the attendees of The Meetings Show; explaining that: “The Board has reviewed the positioning of the brand within the MICE sector and recognised that there are venues within the broader hospitality sector eager to endorse their venue with a badge of excellence synonymous with the Conference Centres of Excellence brand.”
The show welcomed close to 5,000 industry professionals over the three days, providing many prospects for networking; while the vast range of educational sessions allowed for key knowledge growth. Jay Browne, Business Development Manager at Venue Cranfield, said: “It was a privilege to take part in such a recognised exhibition for meeting professionals. We would like to thank Venues of Excellence for inviting us to exhibit in partnership with them, and giving us the opportunity to forge new links with other professionals in the industry and to engage with visitors at the Show.”
